Writing your thesis

  • This section refers to the entire process of thesis preparation.
  • Find information concerning thesis format, finding a supervisor and choosing a topic.
  • Take the thesis writing guidelines of the FGPS into consideration.

Submitting your thesis

  • Before your thesis defense, you must first submit your thesis for approval.
  • Examiners then proceed with an official evaluation.
  • It may be necessary to plan a seminar.

Defending your thesis

  • Before defending your thesis, you may attend other thesis defences to prepare yourself.
  • Once your thesis has been accepted, send copies to the FGPS and to the University library.
  • Policy on thesis defence by videoconference.

Submitting the final version of your thesis electronically

Ready to submit your thesis?
  • Before proceeding with the online submission of your thesis, please submit the three required forms to the FGPS (see the "Before Submitting" section for the list of forms under the uO Research webpage). Failure to do so PRIOR to your submission will result in your thesis being REJECTED.

Open access publishing

In an effort to encourage you to make your research available in open access, the University has established an Author Fund to assist you in paying fees charged by publishers to make material available in open access. Learn more and apply online.
